Earthwise 2024

‘Science for a Sustainable Development: from Conservation of Natural Heritage to Future Society’ is a 75-hour bootcamp co-organised by the International Academy (summer university for international students in Hauts-de-France) and the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Lille (largest French university and in the top 100 European most innovative universities of the Times Higher Education ranking).

The 16 participants (14 students and 2 advisors) will explore the matter of natural and cultural heritage and its holistic conservation. As a marker of the Earth’s history, geodiversity shapes our landscapes (their ecosystems), our agriculture, our architecture and our economy. It gives rise to specific territorial identities. Short courses taught by experts in conservation biology, geoconservation, geology, geography and urbanism will provide students with good understanding of these concepts and their interconnection. Students will apply them to sustainable conservation through mini-projects (group works), debates and cultural and scientific excursions, all dedicated to the exceptional heritage that makes the city of Lille and the Hauts-de France area such a perfect case study.

Midway between Paris, London and Brussels, at the heart of a high-performance academic and economic hub that makes innovation a priority, Earthwise 2024 will provide high-standard English-taught classes and an immersion in the field. A smart opportunity to broaden your international experience under enjoyable conditions with fellow students worldwide.
